A 1976 graduate of the college, at the time of his lecture Dr. Burgio was Distinguished University Research Professor and Director of the Center for Mental Health and Aging at the University of Alabama. His talk dealt with caretaking of Alzheimer patients. He shared information from his own research and that of a national consortium of researchers. BurgioVideo

Dr. Kastelein is the director of the Sea Mammal Research Company in Harderwijk, Netherlands. He has devoted his life to the scientific study of marine mammals and to promoting their conservation. His Tollefson lecture at Canisius focused on the ways in which his scientific findings could be used to decrease the frequency with which porpoises become entangled in fishing nets. KasteleinVideo
