Some information about me: I have been volunteering with Crisis Services in the Advocate Department for approximately four and a half years. The requirements for volunteering consist of going through an intensive one month training session as well as regular monthly meetings and supervision sessions. As a volunteer it is required that you must take two twelve hour shifts per month. When on call you can be paged from any of the hospitals in the general area. Calls will either consist of family violence, domestic violence, rape(s) / any other type of sexual assault. Many times these events are extremely violent and the stories relayed can be shocking. However, the work in general is both interesting and gratifying. The best part of volunteering at CS is feeling like you've made a difference no matter how small.
