HelloLast weekend, we had our ice cream social at the Western New York Children's Psychiatric Center. It was a huge success! The previous weekend we had a shopping excursion where we were able to buy approximately $900 worth of games, books, movies, movie passes and tickets to a Bison's game.
The kids loved our visit and we were able to play all afternoon with each of the groups with all of the new toys that we brought.
Thank you to everyone who helped to raise the money (all of the money used was money raised through the fundraising, not from budget allocations from the finance committee). It would have been impossible without your help.
Lastly, check back later this week for new officer appointments (no voting was necessary since there was no opposition)

Hello!!I apologize that the wiki is behind but with all the planning and executing of Psych Week, the wiki went unattended! But let's recap recent events and whats coming up.
Psych Week was a great success. All of the events had a greater turnout than the past couple of years. Our fight with the finance committee and fundraising was well worth the effort. Thank you to everyone who helped out! The Psychic Fair raised a total of $309 for the WNY Children's Psychiatric Center. This is a big improvement from last year. With the money from the scratch card fundraiser we did in the fall, we are able to donate a over $700 this year. The center is very excited about us coming later in the semester to put on a carnival or picnic for the kids. Also, thank you to everyone who attended events and helped with set up and clean up, we never could have pulled off any of the events without your hard work!
The Mr. Canisius competition also turned out very well. Our Mr. Psychology Chris O'Connor was a huge hit and was the 1st runner-up. So if you see Chris make sure to congratulate him!!
Lastly, I am trying to set a date with the Psychiatric Center for our carnival. I will make sure to keep everyone updated about the details so check your e-mail!!
Thanks!
Emily :)

Hello everyone! I hope that you all had a great vacation and are off to a good start for this semester! The spring semester is the busiest time for the Psychology Club particularly through March. We will planning the events for Psych Week which be held from March 26-30. The annual events that we hold are a Psychic Fair and a hypnotist which are always entertaining and will raise additional money for the WNY Children's Psychiatric Center. There is also a Registration Bash on the Friday of Psych Week where pizza and snacks will be served and psych majors can get their pin numbers from their adviser as well as mingle with students and faculty. In addition to these events, I am trying to plan a trip to the WNY Children's Psychiatric Center, and a group of speakers representative of several of the minors and different areas of psychology. Hopefully we will be able to get a good turnout!!
As for the fundraiser, things did not go as well as we had hoped but that is completely understandable. I appreciate all the hard work you all did and the feedback you provided. The good news is that the amount raised from the fundraiser alone WAS higher than the total donation last year, so we definitely made some progress there.
The officers will be having an organizational meeting in the next week and then we will have a general body meeting to get things going for Psych Week! We attended the budget appeals meeting yesterday and will hear later this week about where the club stands financially to pull off all the events.
More information to come as soon as soon as things get organized!

Hey guys! I hope that everyone got the e-mail sent out yesterday regarding the upcoming fundraiser. Just to clarify-a lot of you probably received 2 of each message because it was sent to individual members as well as to all psychology majors. I really wanted to make sure that as many people as possible received it.So to recap: We will be doing the scratch cards instead of lollipops. If you want to participate, send an email, call me at x5473 and leave a message, or stop by the psychology office and leave a message for me there. Many of you have written concerned about the number of cards you should order. Everyone should only take 1 card-each is worth $100. Also if that kinda scares you, I don't see a problem of having 2 people sharing cards. If you and a friend wanted to each be responsible for 25 of the 50 dots on each card that would not be a problem. (You would both get credit for participating).
Once we know how many people will be participating, we will have a meeting to discuss the fundraiser, the timeline of when we will be doing it, and answer any further questions people have. There have been some suggestions to have the fundraiser begin the week before Thanksgiving Break and end either the 1st or 8th of December which would allow people to utilize the "funds of the family." I think this sounds like a great idea and we will discuss it at the meeting.
I hope to continue hearing from you-I was so estatic at the overwhelming amount of e-mails I recieved after mine was sent out-you guys are AWESOME!!!- Remember, I would like to hear from you (either yay or nay on your participation) by FRIDAY 10/6!!
Talk to you soon!~Emily :)

If you were not able to attend or would like more information you can e-mail either myself (krezmiee@canisius.edu) or Melissa (clingerm@canisius.edu). So watch your inbox! The list of volunteers for the alcohol screening and graduate school fair are posted outside the psychology department office and there are still some times we need people.
